What to know first
- The SG Child Support Package was announced at the National Day Rally on 23 August 2026 and is published on LifeSG and MSF sites. Payouts start in April 2027. We did not find the law that puts it into effect, and some details (tranche dates, rules for unmarried parents) are not yet published.
- Babies born before 1 April 2027 still enrol in the Baby Bonus Scheme and move to the new package automatically in April 2027.
5 more notes
- Some dates are fixed calendar dates (for example 30 April 2027 and 30 September 2027), not a number of days after birth. Check the wording of each item.
- Most payments need the child to be a Singapore citizen. Baby Bonus also needs the parents to be lawfully married.
- Tax reliefs lower your taxable income or your tax bill. They are not cash paid to you.
- Hospital bill ranges are MOH's published typical bills for Singapore citizens (2023 discharges). Your bill may differ.
- This page summarises official sources. It is not financial advice. Check each link before you act.
Explained: the SG Child Support Package, what changes for babies born before or after 1 April 2027, deadlines after the birth, the Child Development Account, delivery costs by ward type, infant care costs after subsidies, registering for infant care, childcare and kindergarten, planning parental leave, hiring a helper, hiring a confinement nanny, IVF and IUI co-funding and getting developmental support for a child.

How we work out your child's citizenship
We use a simple rule: a child born in Singapore with at least one Singapore Citizen parent is treated as a citizen. Otherwise, we treat the child as not a citizen.
This is a simplification. The real rules have exceptions, for example for parents who are not married and for births outside Singapore. ICA decides citizenship. Check with ICA if you are unsure.
Worked example: first child, both parents citizens, due 15 Jun 2027
This is what the tool shows for one family: first child, due 15 Jun 2027; parents: Singapore Citizen and Singapore Citizen; married; working: the parent giving birth and the other parent; hospital: subsidised (public) ward; care after leave: an infant care or childcare centre. Dates are counted from the due date. Status as of 29 Sept 2026.
To age 3, the sources list S$24,000 in government money for a family like yours, against other costs of S$994–4,698 and centre fees after subsidy of up to S$31,510.
Next hard deadline, 27 Jul 2027: Register the birth within 42 days.
- Government money to age 3
- S$24,000
- Other costs (such as the hospital bill)
- S$994–4,698
- Infant care / childcare fees after subsidy (less for lower incomes)
- up to S$31,510
- CDA matching: up to S$5,000 more if you save S$5,000 in the Child Development Account.
- Paid leave: 16 weeks maternity · 10 weeks shared · 4 weeks paternity · 6 days childcare a year.
- Uses your own MediSave: up to S$3,670 for pregnancy and delivery bills. This is your own CPF money, not a grant.
- Tax relief to age 3: S$50,000 to S$62,000 off taxable income. This lowers your tax; it is not cash.
- After age 3 (not in the totals): Child Credits: S$2,000 cash a year from age 1 to 16 (14 more payments, to 2043); Child Credits continue, then S$10,000 PSEA at 17 (2044).
What these totals assume
- For: first child, due 15 Jun 2027; parents: Singapore Citizen and Singapore Citizen; married; working: the parent giving birth and the other parent; hospital: subsidised (public) ward; care after leave: an infant care or childcare centre.
- Child's citizenship: treated as a Singapore Citizen (a simplification; see below).
- 2 items left out of the totals because they depend on an answer, a choice or the actual birth date.

DeadlineNot yet confirmedInfant care registration of interest: some operators accept it from 3 months before the due date
Details and source
PCF Sparkletots, My First Skool and E-Bridge each say they accept infant care registrations of interest from 3 months before the expected due date. A registration of interest puts the child on that centre's waitlist; it is not a place. ECDA says there is no central waitlist: LifeSG's Search for a preschool shows centres with vacancies, and parents contact centres directly. No Government body sets a date to register.
What to do: Each operator takes registrations of interest on its own form; ECDA says to contact centres found on LifeSG directly
Not yet confirmed: Other Anchor Operators (M.Y World, Skool4Kidz) and the Partner Operators do not state an earliest date on the pages we read.
